Founder
Erika Sommers founded Hula Hoop Mom after the devastating loss of her son, Justice, to an overdose. Her personal journey through grief, healing, and purpose is at the heart of this organization. Erika believes that by honoring our loved ones, setting healthy boundaries, and connecting with others, we can carry love without carrying the weight.
This nonprofit was built from deep personal loss, enduring love, and the belief that healing begins with connection. It was made possible thanks to the strength and generosity of Justice’s sister, Isabella Jennings, who raised $20,000 through a GoFundMe campaign following his passing...and an additional $20,000 personal family donation that helped bring Hula Hoop Mom to life.
